The Network of International Business Schools launched its own accreditation system at its annual conference in Leuven, Belgium.
The NIBS accreditation is not intended as a competitor to AACSB or EQUIS, rather it is an accreditation which focuses on the degree to which any business school has become international in all facets of its organisation.
Any member school of NIBS may apply for accreditation which consists of a three-step process: completion of a self-assessment questionnaire on internationalisation; a visit by an accreditation team; and, a decision by The Board of Directors of NIBS.
The self assessment questionnaire consists of ten sections covering all aspects of internationalisation from governance through to the student body. The maximum score on the questionnaire is 100 and accreditation is awarded to schools that are assessed to have a score of more than 50 points.
IBA Kolding, KHLeuven (ECHO), and HES Amsterdam were the first three schools accredited by NIBS in the pilot phase of the accreditation system and they were given their accreditation certificates at the conference dinner in Leuven. All of the participants in the accreditation experience believe that the process has been extremely valuable in its own right and has been successful in identifying good practice in internationalisation.
The NIBS Accreditation scheme can be used as a supplement to other accreditations, or as an accreditation in its own right, especially for institutions that are interested in "deep" internationalisation. |
